Abductors of Imo Dep gov’s aide demand N40m
THE abductors of Emenike Ihekwuaba, the Principal Secretary to the Imo State Deputy Governor, Jude Agbaso, have demanded about N40 million before they can release their victim, a source told The Guardian yesterday.
Emenike, a massively built personality, who has the status of a permanent secretary in the state’s civil service, was abducted on his way to Nkwerre to attend a function in the company of his wife and driver and put in the booth of the abductors’ vehicle on September 26, 2012, at Amaraku Junction, in Isiala Mbano Local Council, Imo State. The source from Government House, Owerri, said that Deputy Governor, Jude Agbaso, was working to ensure the release of his aide.
“The abductors have opened discussion with the relatives and they are demanding N40 million. This is huge money. Where will such money come from? They don’t have such savings,” the source said.
Ihekwuaba, a devout Christian and official of the Transfiguration of Our Lord (CATOL), Owerri, was said to have returned from church, and decided to attend a function at his ancestral home.
He was buying some things before proceeding on his journey when the abductors blocked his car and abducted him.
